First and foremost, Governor Christie is the person responsible for placing on his own office staff, persons, including his deputy chief of staff, who appear to have been fully involved in orchestrating the events leading to the bridge scandal.
Second, at a time when New Jersey was undergoing significant economic challenges, Governor Christie chose, in 2013, to hold not just one election that would determine the outcome for both the U. S. senate race in New Jersey and the New Jersey governor’s race, but two separate elections at an additional cost to New Jersey taxpayers estimated to be between 13 million and 24 million dollars.
And finally, with investigations of the bridge scandal being conducted by a committee formed by the New Jersey legislature and by federal authorities as well, Governor Christie chose to spend more than a million dollars of public funds for the services of a prominent law firm, known to be connected in many ways to Governor Christie, to complete a report which has exonerated Governor Christie of any responsibility for the bridge scandal.
As I said, I have no evidence to suggest that Governor Christie was responsible for the notorious bridge scandal of 2013, but I do see a good deal of evidence to suggest that Governor Christie tends, more often than not, to put his own interests before the interests of our New Jersey citizens, and at a substantial cost to our New Jersey citizens.
