What is happening now has, to my knowledge, and apparently to the knowledge of Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Rep. Peter King of New York, the latter a true Republican conservative, never happened before.
I don’t consider myself a Republican or a Democrat because I have too often seen members of both parties practice the art of working for themselves and their self-interests as opposed to putting all Americans first.
In our current situation, who has shut the government? Everyone can come to his or her own conclusion. For me, my reading of history teaches the decision of the Republicans in the House of Representatives to refuse to hold a vote on keeping our government open unless the president and the Senate agree to alter the Affordable Care Act is, in simple terms, a method of governance in America that has never been used before. And if I am correct, this is saying something important.
