As I listened this morning to the Morning Joe interview of former Senator Santorum, I found myself wondering once again why those involved in the questioning of a political guest never seek an explanation from those like Mr. Santorum as to why they oppose the idea of reinstituting our American economic policies of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, policies that were supported by both Democrat and Republican presidents of that era that allowed for a truly progressive federal income tax with far higher tax brackets than exist now, and resulted in a wonderful growth of our middle class, kept our American infrastructure in good condition and allowed for the wealthy among us to continue to prosper.

As I read about the continuing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, I often find myself envisioning a strange wonder, a group of children from incredibly diverse groups, like Israeli and Palestinian toddlers, being placed together in a childcare group and finding themselves, after a few years of this kind of experience, understanding that many from both sides of this equation are best friends exhibiting so many more similarities than differences among all the toddlers. I still have a hope that one day, the human gene of hatred for the "other," will someday, like other biological cancers we have been able to control, be dispatched from our human bodies.
