Okay! I need a break. I need some music. Anyone out there fans of Brooks and Dunn? Try this. I think you will like it.

My thoughts on life, issues of the day and any thing else that comes to mind.

It's been a while since I typed some words for this old blog of mine. The reason? I'm not sure. There is some good news out there. My kids and grandkids are doing well. We are getting closer to Spring. And then there are the news reports. And the daily statements from politicians and pundits which cause me to wonder how my dad would feel if he were living in an America which appears to have rejected our Second World War concept, a belief that we in America were and are all in this together, a belief that actually worked and took us to success and victory.
Okay! I need a break. I need some music. Anyone out there fans of Brooks and Dunn? Try this. I think you will like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wviDXSsobU

When will it happen? When will our political leaders agree to sit down in a room with each other and honestly and seriously talk about what needs to be done to begin resolving our nation’s major challenges?
Perhaps my vision is wrong, for I admit it seems so simple a method to me. Each of the major parties steps into a room and places on the table a set of ten major issues for which there is no compromise. Then each of the parties, first one and then the other, agree to take painful steps through the process of withdrawing one issue at a time from their list. And so it begins. The two lists of ten drop to two lists of nine, and then two lists of eight as each party gives up one of its ten dreams at a time in return for the other party doing the same. And finally, when the financial numbers along with every other aspect of a workable plan comes into view, both parties can reach that for so long needed compromise that carries with it pain for both parties and a resolution for our entire nation. When will it happen? When will our political leaders finally begin to work for “We The People?” |
